DeFuser Pepper Spray -

Twin Cities Women’s Expo

DeFuser was featured at the Twin Cities Women’s Expo  located at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN.  Products found were entertainment and fashion focused,  including food, live music, fitness, makeup, home décor, etc .. For people of all ages.  Our booth DeFuser  - was the only self-defense focused booth, offering pepper spray that is all USA made, a de-activating safey pin and a 4 year shelf life!

Surrounding the convention center you will find an array of restaurants, bars & shopping such as Seven Sushi Ultralounge and Skybar just around the corner on Hennepin Ave;  Or how about doing a girls night out? The Millennium Hotel is also just a hop skip & jump away! Just remember to bring your pepper spray, because no matter how fancy the location, you must be aware of your surroundings and be prepared for the unexpected! Think about it girls, if a victim was expecting the attack, then the attack would have never occurred in the first place, right?

Here’s some more food for thought – Let’s say you are prepared, you’ve got your cell phone, your group of friends, your pepper spray or stun gun or what have you; now what will you do if your self-defense weapon of choice gets forcefully taken away from you in the event of a struggle? What would you do? Do you think the attacker would turn this weapon against you? ABSOLUTELY he or she would! Well you can now even prevent that from happening. DeFuser pepper spray is your answer.

DeFuser is the ONLY pepper spray available with the safety pin that protects you or a loved one from your own self-defense weapon being used against in the event of a struggle. NO OTHER pepper spray offers such protection!

HOW EASILY CAN YOUR LOCKED DOOR BE OPENED WITHOUT A KEY?
It’s quite alarming the number of webpages specifically designed for teaching people how to break into almost anything, but what about your front door? How easily can your front door be opened without a key? Searching the internet right off the bat I found endless amounts of information on the How-To’s for opening deadbolts with a bobby pin, opening doors with knives, credit cards and even information on how to break into a door and not cause damage to it. One website I found even sells things called “Bump Keys” which will apparently unlock 90% of all locks, it does not damage the lock therefore you would not know it was used.
When researching statistics for the US, I found an FBI website  www.fbi.gov that gave information on home invasions, property crime and assaults in the US:
-          One property crime happens every 3 seconds.
-           One burglary occurs every 10 seconds.
-           One violent crime occurs every 20 seconds.
-          One aggravated assault occurs every 35 seconds.
-           One robbery occurs every 60 seconds.
-           One forcible rape occurs every 2 minutes.
According to a United States Department of Justice report:
-          38% of assaults & 60% of rapes occur during home invasions.
-          1 of every 5 homes will experience a break in or home invasion.

Being the person I am, I researched ways to protect yourself and your home. I made a list of free/inexpensive ways to better protect your home, and self:
-          Create an illusion that someone’s home when you leave, even during the day (since most burglaries happen during the day when people are at work) Turn on a light, or a radio.
-          Put a strong pole or 2x4 lock in your patio door, most sliding doors can be easily lifted off of its frame and opened.
-          Don’t leave valuables in your garage, and if you do, try not to leave your garage door open to flaunt it to passer-byes.
-          Buy a window or Door Stop Alarm, They’re a very inexpensive on time purchase that usually takes 9volt batteries to operate.
-          If you leave town, Don’t post it on a social media website to the world. But DO let a friend or neighbor know to check on the house and collect your mail.
-          Check with your local police station to see if they will do a free safety evalutation of your property.
Be aware of your home inside & out. Make a safety check list you can go over when leaving it. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, It’s better to be safe, than sorry.

Simple and Inexpensive ways to keep your family and home safe!

·         Do you have an alarm on your car? If so it is a good idea to keep your keys by your bedside at night. If someone is trying to brake in, sound the alarm!

·         Find the FREE self-defense classes in your community. Also there are many free books and DVD’s  available at your local human resources center, and online.

·         Purchase window/door stop alarms for your home. They are very inexpensive (some under $15) and they work when a door or window is being forced open. These are also a good idea to have around when you have little ones that can reach certain windows or have figured out the child safety on your doors/windows!

·         Carry a self-defense weapon (go for one that can’t be used against you if taken away!) like Pepper spray or stun guns that have a safety pin/disabling feature. This again is a good idea for anyone with youngsters around that you want to protect from accidentally using the weapon! If you are wondering where to buy pepper spray with this feature than visit www.defuserdefense.com

·         Purchase practice water canisters (about $5) when thinking about carrying pepper spray. It’s a good idea to know how to aim and spray by practicing with water charged canisters before carrying the real deal! This also makes a great combo gift for a loved one!

·         Get to know your neighbors. It seems so small, but the more you know each other, the better you can identify when something’s “just not right.”

·         Smoke detectors! Check them monthly. Make sure you have one on every floor, and outside of every bedroom. Keep a fire extinguisher handy, remember PASS: Pull the pin. Aim at the base of the fire. Squeeze or press the handle. Sweep from side to side at the base of the fire until it goes out.

·         Have a Carbon Monoxide detector in your home! Low to moderate levels of this colorless and odorless gas can cause symptoms similar to the flu (without fever). But as levels increase, the toxic effects of carbon monoxide (CO) can be deadly, especially for children, because the gas prevents oxygen from getting to the heart and brain.

·         Test for Radon. Approximately one in 15 homes (including apartments) has a high level of radon, a radioactive gas released when uranium naturally breaks down in soil, rocks, and water. Radon is believed to be the leading cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers, but because you can't see or smell it, you won't know if you're being exposed without testing for it. Purchase an inexpensive test kit at most home improvement sores.

20 Down-to-Earth tips for being an Independent Woman!

20 Down-to-Earth tips for being an Independent Woman!

1.       First of all, in a world where you can be anything, be yourself!
2.       Know who you are, and what you believe! Don’t feel bad about being you. Those who mind
don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.
3.       Don’t let someone else’s mood determine yours.
4.       Work for your own money! Nothing feels better then knowing what’s yours is ALL yours!
5.       No matter how much you make right now, set up a savings/retirement account, you will
          thank yourself later!
6.       You’re more likely to learn from your mistakes once you acknowledge that you made them.
7.       Have confidence, if you don’t believe in yourself, who will?
8.       Quality over quantity: Don’t count your number of friends, appreciate the few you can count
on! Keep the friends that have your back!
9.       Being feared is NOT the same as being respected, acting tough won’t make people respect
          you.
10.     Know when to stand up, and when to step back. Don’t make everything a power struggle.
11.     Set goals & strive for better, but always appreciate the things you already HAVE!
12.     Be a leader, never a hypocrite, lead by example!
13.     Become a stronger person, mind, body, and soul.
14.     Take care of your body, find ways to eat better and work out, set realistic body goals.
15.     Be empowered! Take a self-defense class with a friend.
16.     Be prepared! Purchase a self-defense weapon and carry it! Simple and effective option is
pepper spray. Remember it could be taken away in a struggle, knowing that,  I suggest
          DeFuser pepper spray.
17.     Don’t break your own promises. If you set a goal and don’t achieve it in your time frame, don’t
let it slide. Set the goal again and get it done! It will feel so goodJ
18.     Remember what your teachers and/or parent(s) tried to teach you: “Treat others how you
would want to be treated” It’s true what they say, what goes around – comes around.
19.     Don’t be so hard on yourself! I know that’s easier said then done, but it’s true. The self-doubt
and putting yourself down will lead you nowhere, fast.
20.     Last but not least.  We are so small, we are germs compared to the universe around us, so          stop sweating the small stuff. Whatever you’re going through right now stay strong because
you will survive, and thrive if you let yourself learn from it. Take your own advice.
Live strong!

Life is full of choices, and protecting yourself with a self-defense weapon is just one of them... To choose or not to choose? Many people (women in particular) question whether it is safe to even carry a self-defense weapon?  I know it may seem unfair that women have to take extra precautions in our society to feel safe, but unfair or not, this is reality. I believe it is better to be safe, then to be sorry.

In a world where we as women have so many options, and revolutionary products that can protect us, empower us, and even keep our family safer, why still do some choose not to take every precaution in preparing themselves?

Since violence is color blind and does not care about race, religion, or social status, and is at many times a random act; Here are some things that we as women can choose to do - to keep ourselves safe:

·    If you go for a walk or a run, be sure to tell someone where you are going. Call or even       text your plan, and follow up afterward.

·    When possible, travel with a friend.

·    When you’re alone, whether in a parking lot, or going for a walk, be aware of your surroundings, don’t be distracted by anything, pay attention!

·    Trust your instincts, if you feel someone looks sketchy, go the other way, don’t be embarrassed to avoid them.

·    Always have your phone with you.

·    Take a self-defense class with a friend; this could save your life! You’d be surprised the amount of strength you have when adrenaline is pumping through you, so why not learn some kick-butt moves!

·    Learn to properly use a self-defense weapon; but keep in mind it could be used against you. I recommend carrying the best pepper spray by DeFuser.  – DeFuser is the only pepper spray with a disable pin, so it CAN’T be used against you if it’s taken away.

·    Lastly, if you are being attacked, remember to ALWAYS FIGHT BACK! Yell FIRE FIRE FIRE, people don’t always want to get involved is an attack situation, but yelling fire will attract people in your direction immediately.

You might wonder, where is pepper spray legal? and is pepper spray legal in my state? This is a good question and you will want to know your state laws for carrying pepper spray.  Each state has different laws regarding pepper spray and is determined by strength, size, whether or not it has uv dye, and a couple other reasons.  Be sure to check with your state or local authorities for pepper spray laws in your area.

What is the best pepper spray to get my girlfriend?

Ok, so you want to keep your honey safe, but you are wondering what is the best pepper spray to buy?  Here are a couple pointers about selecting the right pepper spray.  There are a lot of different styles, shapes, colors, strengths, etc., so choose wisely.

Here is a list of things to consider when selecting a pepper spray:

#1 How strong is the formula?
Pepper sprays are usually rated by the amount of OC or "oleoresin capsicum" the active ingredient in most pepper sprays.  However, you need to be careful not to be misled.  We have found studies that show a pepper spray claiming to have 17% OC to actually be less hot than one claiming to have 10%. Studies from universities have shown that in some cases up to 30% of the time pepper spray fails due to batch inconsistency.  So it is a good idea to use a reputable brand, and there are a couple formulas out there that are actually tested in a HPLC laboratory to ensure heat level consistency. Pepper sprays that use HPLC lab testing are proud of it, so you will usually see a HPLC logo displayed if this is the case.

#2 How long does it last and how long has it been sitting on the shelf?
The industry average seems to be around 2 years on pepper spray, but some brands exceed that to over 4 yrs.  Another thing to consider is how long has the unit been sitting on the shelf? In most cases you get what you pay for, and lots of people will sell off almost expired pepper spray at discounted prices.  Also, make sure there is an expiration date printed on the canister itself. Some low grade pepper sprays don’t even let the consumer know whether or not the pepper spray has an expiration date.  I’m here to tell you that they all do, and not necessarily because of the OC, but because of the propellant.  If a pepper spray is expired it could still be hot, but it might on dribble out when you try to spray it.

#3 Is it easily accessible, and easy to use?
Is it a large bulky can or one that is easily accessible like one that attaches to your key chain.  Key chain pepper sprays are great because they always seem to be there when you need it most. In lots of cases the first thing people do when leaving a store is pull their keys out.  If you have a pepper spray attached to your keys it is visible and sometimes even the presence of pepper spray is enough to detour an attacker.

#4 Is pepper spray legal to carry in my state?
Is pepper spray legal to carry in my state? This is a very common question. Laws vary from state to state in the USA regarding pepper spray.  Make sure you know the local and state laws for pepper spray in your area.  There are a couple formulas that are both very strong and legal to carry in all 50 states.  DeFuser pepper spray is not only legal in all 50 states, but it's also the only pepper spray that can't be used against you if taken away.  DeFuser becomes automatically de-activated if pulled away by an attacker, making it almost impossible for it to be turned against you! Pretty neat feature for pepper spray.

Should of - Would of - Could of..............
Don't let this be you. It is up to YOU to be prepared.

I have spoken one on one with women of all ages at different womens expos, I found 3 very common (and very scary) responses from some women when asked ..."Do you carry pepper spray?"

Response #1 is "I don't get out much, I live in a safe neighborhood, I only go to work and home again" ... This makes the PERFECT target - a person with the exact same routine, everyday. Most predators will prey on a person they know the routine of.

Response #2 is "I carry a gun" ..would you shoot another woman, or a minor if you felt threatened? Think of someone threatening a fist fight with you, ask yourself -would you feel right protecting yourself by shooting an unarmed person not threatening your life, but threatening a throw down?

Response #3 is the MOST common: "Yes I carry pepper spray already, let me find it" followed by intense digging through their purse. In an attack you will not only be in shock, but also likely be caught completely off gaurd; keeping pepper spray in the bottom of your bag, or in your glove box will not help you in an attack.

Lastly, when deciding to buy pepper spray for yourself or a friend make sure to keep these things in mind:
1. Can it be used against the victim if taken away by an attacker?
2. Does it have a flip top? Flip tops prevent you from accidently spraying YOURSELF in a panic situation.
3. What's the expiration date? ALL PEPPER SPRAY has a shelf life, DeFuser shelf life is 4 YEARS!
4.Is it made, and tested in the USA? God forbid you have to use it one day, the quality of the product will matter!
